Cody Rhodes may be looking to extend his alliances in WWE soon.
For the most part, Rhodes has attempted to fight the majority of his battles solo and has been successful with victories over Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar and 2 Royal Rumble wins among the highlights. However, as was seen in his rivalries with The Bloodline and The Judgment Day, the numbers game can catch up and has been a factor in some of his biggest losses.
At the contract signing for his upcoming match against Logan Paul at King and Queen of the Ring, Rhodes was once again outnumbered as Paul had backup. With Paul also known to utilise interference to keep his own title reign intact, Rhodes has teased evening up the playing field with backup of his own.
Appearing on Busted Open Radio, Rhodes was told by Mark Henry that there was no luck in how The American Nightmare became a success as it was through his own accomplishments. Responding to this and looking ahead to the match against Paul, Rhodes contemplated recruiting a manager in a similar vein to Arn Anderson’s role in AEW:
“Mark I feel it and I’ll tell you this. One of the reasons I liked having Arn Anderson around was the same reason I would have loved to have my dad around me. Because I’ll tell you I’m lucky and I’ll tell you how hard I work. I’ll tell you how grateful I am and that is true but it was nice to have a guy over my shoulder say what you just said and say we’re not apologizing for greatness where mediocrity loves company and we’re not joining that company.
It was nice to have that voice in your ear. It was something I missed when Logan and I were doing this contract signing to see him flanked by so many people. I don’t know. Maybe I’m looking for the classic wrestling manager to join me on this title reign. I don’t know who that is or what that is but it just felt like I wouldn’t mind someone to holler the stuff that you just did.”
Cody Rhodes Looks Back On Plans Changing
Although Rhodes did finish the story at WrestleMania 40 with a historic victory over Roman Reigns, there was a point where all plans were thrown into chaos due to the return of The Rock. During the same interview, Cody Rhodes revealed when he first heard that plans may be changing to The Rock vs. Roman Reigns.
