Cody Rhodes Suffers Historic Loss On WWE Raw

Cody Rhodes’ latest loss was a significant one.

The opening match of the February 19th episode of Raw saw The American Nightmare take on Drew McIntyre in the opening match of the show. For anyone who was heartbroken by the end of WrestleMania 39, the finish looked all too familiar. Rhodes appeared to have the match won but was distracted by Jimmy Uso, followed by a Samoan Spike from Solo Sikoa, allowing McIntyre to pick up the victory.

This was Rhodes’ first singles loss since Night of Champions 2023. With the loss taking place on weekly TV, this is also Rhodes’ first televised singles loss since May 2016, when the winner of the 2024 Royal Rumble lost to Zack Ryder while portraying his Stardust persona on an episode of Superstars.

The last time Rhodes lost a WWE match in general took place back in November 2023 when he and Jey Uso lost a tag title rematch against The Judgment Day’s Finn Balor and Damian Priest.

Cody Rhodes Prepares For Final Stops On The Road To WrestleMania

Among a lot of confusion with The Rock making a shock return to the company, Rhodes would eventually announce that he would face off against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. Not competing at Elimination Chamber, The American Nightmare and Seth Rollins will both be guests on The Grayson Waller Effect at the Australian Premium Live Event. Looking to make his segment memorable, the SmackDown star has mocked Cody Rhodes ahead of time.

McIntyre will be in action at the show as he steps inside the Elimination Chamber once again. If successful, The Scottish Warrior will challenge Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania.
