Could more WWE returns be on the way?
Following Triple H taking creative control in July 2022, multiple former stars of the company were brought back to compete on Raw or SmackDown. Notable returns would include Dakota Kai, Bronson Reed and Johnny Gargano.
Cody Rhodes Wants Former Intercontinental Champion Back In WWE
With returns slowing down during WrestleMania season, fans are looking ahead to the Raw after Mania, which has become known for returns from injury, NXT callups and shock debuts.
Cody Rhodes has recently commented on which familiar face he would like to see come back to the company, that being Matt Cardona. The man who was known in WWE as Zack Ryder has not returned following the shock release in April 2020, the first of many infamous rounds of releases due to alleged “budget cuts.”
Speaking with the Good Karma Wrestling Podcast, Rhodes stated that he admires what Cardona is currently doing on the independent scene. The American Nightmare would go on to say that if he had the choice, he would love to see Cardona come back to WWE:
I’m really proud of him. He’s out there, he’s doing the ‘Indie God’ thing with the Indiana Jones hats. Everything Matt’s doing, Matt has been the king of the indies now, this is going on year two. You only usually get one run in that role, you know? He’s going on year two. What Matt does next is gonna be huge. If he goes to AEW, that’d be cool but if he comes back to WWE, that’s what I want, it would be off the charts. I think he’s a huge get, a huge free agent, he’s the best he’s ever been but he’s really pissed me off. I have no good karma with Matt Cardona at the moment.
Zack Ryder had a number of memorable moments while competing in WWE. Highlights would include winning the Intercontental Championship at WrestleMania 32 and defeating Dolph Ziggler with the help of Hollywood star High Jackman.
