Cody Rhodes hasn’t wrestled since defeating Seth Rollins inside Hell In A Cell on June 5th.
In the lead up to the match Rhodes sustained a serious pectoral injury but wrestled against Rollins, and won, regardless. After appearing on Monday Night Raw in the days after the match Rhodes underwent surgery to repair the damage to his pec, while it was announced that he will be out for a number of months.
“At The Royal Rumble, I’m Back” – Cody Rhodes
On the January 16th episode of Monday Night Raw the latest vignette updating the world on Cody Rhodes progress was aired. In the video, Rhodes was seen beginning his rehab after surgery, before commenting that he was told he would be out for nine months.
The video then skips forward four months to the former AEW star training at the Nightmare Factory. The clip ended with Rhodes declaring that he will be back at the Royal Rumble in San Antonio, Texas on January 28th.
Not only will he be at the event, Rhodes will be taking part in the men’s Royal Rumble Match.

Cody Rhodes returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38 after leaving All Elite Wrestling. Upon returning Rhodes entered into a rivalry with Seth Rollins. After defeating Rollins at WrestleMania, the pair met again at WrestleMania Backlash where Rhodes again picked up the win.
This set up a third match between the two men at Hell In A Cell inside the structure of the same name.
