When you’ve been around the wrestling business as long as Jim Ross there isn’t much that you haven’t seen. However, it seems that Cody Rhodes’ neck tattoo managed to leave the veteran bemused.

Rhodes got the tattoo of the American Nightmare logo on his neck back in early 2020. The artwork left fans divided when it was seen on television for the first time and even Rhodes’ wife Brandi admitted that she didn’t like it.

Appearing on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast, Rhodes revealed that the tattoo also left Jim Ross somewhat confused. The American Nightmare recalled attending a production meeting after he first had the tattoo done and Jim Ross just stared at it for the entire meeting.

“I mean, I don’t know if it was a mistake or if I wasn’t paying attention. A lot of people were like, neck? And then like, my boss at the time, this was when I was at AEW, he just thought like, no way, it’s not gonna be your neck or anything. I walked into the production meeting the next day just I remember Jim Ross, the legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross literally just the whole meeting was just staring at it, not listening to anything.”

What Does Cody Rhodes’ Neck Tattoo Mean?

In response to the backlash and confusion from others about the tattoo, Rhodes took to social media to explain his decision and what the ink means.

“I’m humbled by the run I’ve been on and the love of the fans. Incredibly lucky man. It was very simple, I wear a lot of brands…I wanted to make sure mine was one of them. And I wasn’t hiding it.”
