The June 4th episode of AEW Dynamite saw the shocking debut of former WWE Superstar Andrade.
Early in the show, Vickie Guerrero made her way to the ring to introduce her brand new client – a man who had won championships around the world and a third-generation wrestler who was revealed to be Andrade.
Now going by the name ‘Andrade El Idolo’, the former WWE star introduced himself with a short but effective message by claiming he will become the new face of the company.
Responding to a fan asking about the debut, Rhodes described Andrade as a “Well dressed man” and a “big signing.”

Big signing by Tony – Andrade is a stud and I’m excited to see him in AEW https://t.co/3dmbpDgpqE

This marks the 31-year-old’s second televised appearance since his final WWE match in October last year where he lost to Angel Garza. Andrade disappeared from WWE programming following this loss and eventually requested his release from the company in March 2021.
Andrade has already been announced for several matches over the coming months including one against AEW World Champion Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship, a belt Omega will have held for almost two years should he hold it till the scheduled clash between the two at TripleMania XXIX.
The most recent episode of Dynamite wasn’t the most auspicious night in the career of Cody Rhodes. During a tag team match between Rhodes and Lee Johnson and QT Marshall and Anthony Ogogo, the former boxer rushed the ring and knocked out Rhodes.
Posting on Twitter about the incident, Rhodes said he was “embarrassed” to be left looking up at the lights.
