WWE wants to re-sign Cody Rhodes to a long-term contract extension.
The company has recently extended the contracts of several big name Superstars. Rey Mysterio inked a new three year deal, while his son, Dominik, has signed a new five year deal.
Charlotte Flair signed a new multi year deal and it looks to be a big money deal. Flair has become one of the highest paid women in WWE history earning a major pay rise and a personal travel bus as part of the new deal.
Now, according to Fightful Select, sources within WWE have confirmed that the company has been engaged in talks with the third-generation star to secure his long-term future with a multi-year contract extension.
Details on the contract terms remain under wraps, the report states that those in the industry anticipate a substantial raise for Rhodes upon signing.
The report further claims that locking down Rhodes is a top priority for TKO management, who are confident that a deal will ultimately be reached. Adding fuel to the speculation, Rhodes apparently received a new company bus around Thanksgiving, leading some within the company to believe an agreement was already sealed. However, sources clarify that the contract is still in negotiation and not yet finalized.
Cody Rhodes spoke about MJF joining WWE
One of Rhodes’ former AEW opponents, MJF has long been linked to follow the American Nightmare to WWE. For years, MJF has hyped a “bidding war of 2024,” claiming his AEW contract ends soon.
In a recent interview with Peter Rosenburg, Rhodes spoke about MJF potentially joining the promotion.
I think one day you will see MJF in WWE. I think one thing I’m really proud of him for is, for those who don’t know, MJF was one of my recruits. Probably the one I’m the most excited about just because [of] his potential, his personality; his overall professionalism is beaming.
Rhodes, currently embroiled in a fiery feud with Shinsuke Nakamura, has set his sights on both claiming the Men’s Royal Rumble and achieving the rare feat of consecutive wins.
