Cody Rhodes may be a part of one royal family in wrestling, but that doesn’t mean he can’t learn from others.
Fresh off a win against Dominik Mysterio, “The American Nightmare” was quite forthright in his answers during the WWE Money In The Bank press conference and was asked if he felt his momentum has slowed down following his defeat to Roman Reigns on night two of WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles. Rhodes didn’t want to go “super inside baseball” in his response but did mention something fellow babyface John Cena told him.
“One of the things that John Cena told me. He said, ‘you could be the champ without wearing the title, but you have to be honest with yourself.’ Look at the numbers everywhere you go. Look at the numbers on everything you put out. If they’re telling you it’s cruising and it’s going, because there is a difference between soup du jour and equity in someone we’ve gotten behind and has earned your trust and all of that. If those numbers support that, then you’re on the right path. I have been blessed that has been the case.”
You Can’t Slow Cody Rhodes Down
With the wise words from Cena, Cody was able to put his specific goals in perspective and has confident in the process WWE manangement has put in front of him.
“Momentum wise. There is a task in front of me. I feel we’re on the right path.”
The path Rhodes is on appears to be Brock Lesnar for WWE SummerSlam in Detroit as “The Beast Incarnate” made his return to “WWE Raw” this past Monday in build for the big event. The rumored battle for the two is a Texas Bullrope Match, something made famous by his father, the late-great Dusty Rhodes.
