Cody Rhodes has praised his former WrestleMania opponent Big Show and says he’s been thinking of the giant in the lead-up to his match with Shaq.
Rhodes would put his WWE Intercontinental Championship on the line against Big Show at WrestleMania 28. In the run-up to the match, Rhodes had sought to humiliate the ‘world’s largest athlete’ by pointing out some of Show’s more embarrassing moments. Big Show would have the last laugh as he defeated Rhodes for the championship in just over five minutes.
Speaking to the NY Post, 2-time former TNT Champion Cody Rhodes has discussed his thoughts on Big Show. Including how memories of wrestling Show are helping him prepare for the upcoming mixed tag-team match between Rhodes and Red Velvet taking on Jade Cargill and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.
“The only thing I’ve been thinking of in my mind is I wrestled Big Show so many times. He was just one of the most valuable teachers to me, he was everything. A genuine adversary when it came to how he handled going to WrestleMania. He was my first taste of good politics, bad politics, and he was an angel in the ring to wrestle with. It gave me some absolute valuable lessons. So thinking about Show a lot as I’ve been thinking about Shaq, in any way are they similar.”
The match featuring the 7ft 1 basketball star will take place on the March 3rd edition of AEW Dynamite. This will be Shaq’s second pro wrestling match after competing once in WWE. Shaq competed in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32. During that match, Shaq would come eye to eye with Big Show before the two giants were eliminated by most of the other competitors.
