MJF has revealed that Cody Rhodes recently offered his parents tickets to a SmackDown taping.
Despite Cody Rhodes and MJF being on different sides of professional wrestling’s great divide, the AEW star has revealed that the pair still speak.
Not only that, speaking in a new interview with Brandon of Barstool Rasslin’, the Salt of the Earth explained that Rhodes recently offered his parents tickets to a recent SmackDown taping in Long Island.
“We still talk sometimes to this day. Cody Rhodes is a sweetheart. He texted my parents and offered them tickets for the Long Island show for SmackDown,” MJF revealed. “They couldn’t go. They were busy, but I mean, it was very sweet of him to do. Have you seen his baby? What a cute baby.”
For a number of months MJF has been openly courting WWE in interviews and even on AEW television, even recently admitting that he would join Rhodes, “if the price was right.” The AEW star also discussed the possibility of squaring off against the likes of Seth Rollins and The Miz.
“I would imagine. I think me and him would have a tremendous match,” MJF said. “I think it would be a friendly competition. I would also love to wrestle Seth Rollins. I would love to wrestle The Miz.”
MJF’s comments come at a time when it was reported that he is considering not re-signing with AEW when his contract expires in 2024. Since signing a five-year deal with the company in 2019, the star has risen to become one of the top names in the industry, despite never holding a major championship.
The three-time Dynamite Diamond Ring winner is currently embroiled in a feud with his former bodyguard, Wardlow. The pair are set to meet at Double or Nothing on May 29th, but only if Wardlow takes ten lashings on Dynamite, and then defeats Shawn Spears in a Cage Match where MJF will serve as the special guest referee.
