Cody Rhodes gave fans a glimpse of what John Cena told him after their epic rematch at WWE SummerSlam 2025.
After John Cena turned heel at Elimination Chamber by siding with The Rock, The Cenation Leader made history at WrestleMania 41 by becoming a 17-time World Champion by defeating Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Championship.
Both men were then slated to face off again at SummerSlam for the title, but the night before on SmackDown, Cena turned face again after implying that The Final Boss and Travis Scott left him alone. At The Biggest Party of the Summer, the two babyfaces held an epic Street Fight, which saw the gold change hands.
Following their title match, John Cena and Cody Rhodes shared a personal moment inside the ring when The Franchise Player whispered something to the current champion while handing over the title, which made the latter emotional. Now, The American Nightmare has now disclosed what the context was.

Cody Rhodes Shared That John Cena’s Comments Was As Good As A Moment It Could Get
While talking with Sports Illustrated, Cody Rhodes was asked what John Cena told him in the ring. The former shared that the “digital guys” or the Unreal series team most likely caught verbatim what was said. However, he didn’t disclose exactly what it was, but noted that it was a positive one for someone who’d climbed back up the ladder and had a passion for the sport.
What he [John Cena] told me in the ring when he handed me the title is all the moment you could ever dream of, um, in terms of as a wrestler, as someone who’s really wanted it, who’s climbed the ladder and, and believes in climbing the ladder and believes in having a passion for this, that was as good as moment as he, as, as he could get.”
The American Nightmare noted that their moments since WrestleMania and promos that followed are etched in his brain more than other promos he did. However, their moment at SummerSlam was what he considered their “best moment.”
When Cody Rhodes was asked again what John Cena told him at SummerSlam, the former shared that he would keep it a secret for The Cenation Leader, who never liked the “inside stuff to be known.” The Undisputed Champion added that he would wait for the mic’d up version instead.
