Cody Rhodes Issues Warning Over Common WWE Fan Request

Cody Rhodes has stated that WWE fans need to be careful what they wish for.

Following on from his triumph at WrestleMania 40 over Roman Reigns, Rhodes is now the top champion in the company as well as the top babyface. The American Nightmare has remained a face ever since his return in 2022 and shows no signs of turning anytime soon, which some fans have been more outspoken over despite the fact that Rhodes receives a thunderous ovation from the fans no matter where the show is taking place.

Very much aware of the section of fans who are calling for a change, Rhodes has explained how it might not be what some are expecting.

Appearing on The Pivot, Rhodes explained his thought process on a possible turn and how he would not be the popular cool heel that some may expect:

“There’s a beauty if you can commit to being a bad guy. It’s a unique space creatively. You’ve gotta be really vulnerable and open, and you’ve gotta be blood-hungry in terms of how you are on the microphone. There’s this growing sect of fans that wants to see that happen for me at some point, and I understand the links…I don’t know if they know what they’re asking for. If you’re really wishing for that, it’s scorched earth.

“Then you might be, ‘We don’t like that. No, that’s rude to that group of people.’ No, no. That’s the job. Someone’s gonna come out here and beat me up in a minute. Before they do, I’m gonna talk my trash, and that’s the thing. You have to really go scorched earth. In 2024, that is hard. That is hard for anyone to understand that you’re not meant there to be cool, you’re not meant there to be the next Rock. You’re meant there to be a bad guy or a bad girl.”

Cody Rhodes Channels His Inner Superhero

Fans of the hit Amazon series The Boys have joked about a possible Rhodes heel turn emulating main character Homelander given the similarities in appearances between the two. In an instance of art imitating life, Cody Rhodes went full Homelander to promote The Boys in a new commercial.

Also in the interview, Cody Rhodes reflected on an emotional night inside MSG.

H/t to Wrestle Zone.
