Cody Rhodes’s plans for the August 23rd WWE SmackDown look to be set following a recent exchange on social media.
At WrestleMania 40, Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed Champion and finally finished the story. Despite the fact that The American Nightmare receives one of the loudest reactions each week, fellow SmackDown star Grayson Waller sees things differently.
Firing a shot at Rhodes on social media, Waller stated that despite what others may think, he believes that Rhodes is the bad guy in the story:
I can’t wait for the day people wake up and realise that Cody Rhodes has always been the bad guy in the ‘story’
Catching the attention of the champion, Rhodes responded to Waller to meet him on SmackDown to see if he was a man of his word:
Interesting take @GraysonWWE, how about we have a chat tomorrow on #SmackDown and I can show you how much of a “bad guy” I can be.
Looking to make the “chat” as high-profile as possible, Waller accepted the offer and invited Rhodes to be a guest on The Grayson Waller Effect in what would be a historic meeting between them both:
“Chill out Codelander, the truth hurts, huh? But I love this idea. Let’s have a chat tomorrow. Let’s do it on the most honest and important talk show in the history of WWE, The Grayson Waller Effect. You can be the first-ever 3-time guest. You’re welcome for the rub, kid. So let’s all find out together who Cody Rhodes really is.”
What Happened The Last Time Cody Rhodes Was On The Grayson Waller Effect
As mentioned by the former Tag Team Champion, Rhodes has been a guest on The Grayson Waller Effect twice previously. First appearing on the show at Payback 2023, Rhodes made the announcement that Jey Uso was the newest member of the Raw roster. Making his return to the talk show at Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia alongside Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes called out The Rock for a one-on-one match, which Rhodes himself has previously stated still stands.
