Cody Rhodes has reportedly suffered an injury while training ahead of WWE Hell in a Cell, although he still intends to compete at the event.
At Hell in a Cell on May 5th, Cody Rhodes is scheduled to continue his feud with Seth Rollins when the two go head-to-head for the third time in a Street Fight.
However, speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has reported that Rhodes suffered a torn pectoral muscle. While, if that is indeed the injury The American Nightmare has sustained, it could put his bout in jeopardy, the current assumption is that it will go ahead as planned.
“Cody hurt himself weight training this week. The story going around backstage last night in Champaign, Illinois is that he tore his pec. I don’t know that 100 percent [if] that is the injury. That’s definitely the story going around. That’s what multiple wrestlers were saying last night, and Cody was there, so he probably told them,” Meltzer said.
“The presumption everyone had was he’s working Hell in a Cell tonight and from there we’ll see. But a torn pec is, you know, that’s a pretty serious injury, if it is that.”
WrestleVotes has also reported the news, stating that the severity of the injury is still being determined and plans for his match against Rollins have been “changing all day”.
“Unfortunately, the Cody Rhodes injury news going around is accurate. He is still scheduled to work tonight’s HIAC event, w/ the severity of the injury still being determined. I’m told plans for the match have been changing all day long. Feel terrible for Cody.”

Despite the injury, Cody Rhodes has taken to Twitter ahead of the event to ask Chicago if they’re ready for the show, apparently confirming that he intends to compete in his scheduled match.
