Cody Rhodes Explains Importance Of Him Winning WWE Title

Cody Rhodes entrance

Cody Rhodes has opened up about his desire to win the WWE Championship, the title the famously eluded his illustrious father.

Since returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes has been open about his motivations for heading back to the sports entertainment giant. He wants to win the WWE Championship.

It’s a title that his father, the late, great American Dream Dusty Rhodes, was unable to capture, and has proven to be out of each for Cody himself in his career to date.

However, with every victory in the ring, and with the fans behind him, the American Nightmare moves ever closer to achieving his goal.

Speaking to WWE UK as WWE prepare to return to the United Kingdom for Clash At The Castle on September 3rd, Rhodes broke down what it would mean to him to win the WWE Championship.

“I don’t want to say that it’s the most important thing in my life because I don’t want to put so much pressure on myself. If you know me and, fortunately and unfortunately, I have been so open and grown up in front of the audience that they do really know me, I think they know that it is the most important thing. That all the pressure in the world is on me to do it.

It is the one that got away. No Rhodes got their hands on it. I have said it, made it clear, and if it goes unobtained that’s one thing but I just couldn’t let it go unsaid. With that in mind I have a habit of very much putting things out in the universe when it comes to sports entertainment and making sure they happen. I am a big, big proponent of sticking to your word. I would love to give my word to the WWE Universe that not only do I want it, but I am going to get it. Only time will tell.”

Before Rhodes can get his hands on the WWE Title he has the small matter of a Hell In A Cell match against Seth Rollins to prepare for. The pair are set to meet at the event of the same name on June 5th, as they look to finally put an end to their rivalry.
