Cody Rhodes Shares The Hilarious Reason He Was Fired From His First Job

Cody Rhodes cuts a promo

Currently regarded as one of the top professional wrestlers in the world, it’s difficult to imagine Cody Rhodes working any other job, let alone one in a bagel store. That was indeed the first job for the future ‘American Nightmare’, though, as he revealed in a recent quote-tweet to Alicia Atout. Atout was asking about people’s first jobs, leading Rhodes to chime in.

Tagging Einstein Bros. Bagels – his former employers – in the tweet, the three-time AEW TNT Champion revealed how an imaginary person named William ultimately led to his firing after it was revealed Cody was in fact having the bagels himself:

.@EinsteinBros – you were allowed 1 bagel a shift. I went into the dining area 4 times a day w/a cinnamon sugar bagel toasted with honey almond spread and called out “William – toasted bagel”. There was no William, it was for me. I was terminated. Love that place though forever”

Replying, Einstein Bros. simply replied with, “We love you“, while a subsequent tweet stated that the aforementioned bagels were “hard to beat“.

Cody Rhodes – Bagel Connoseiur-Turned-WWE Superstar

Although he left WWE in May 2016 after failing to be utilised to his full potential, Cody Rhodes took to the independent circuit, rebuilding himself from the ground up. He worked for EVOLVE, IMPACT, and a slew of other notable promotions, before ultimately finding a home in ROH and NJPW.

In 2019, Rhodes helped found All Elite Wrestling, where he served as both an in-ring talent and an Executive Vice President. Achieving three reigns, one of which was the inaugural reign, with the company’s TNT Championship, Cody departed AEW in a shock move in February 2022.

He’s now back in WWE, resurfacing on night one of WrestleMania 38 to begin a legendary feud vs. Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins. Though he’s been out injured since tearing his pectoral tendon ahead of Hell in a Cell, Cody Rhodes is thought to be ahead of his recovery schedule.
