Even while out injured, nobody is safe from Cody Rhodes, as ‘The American Nightmare’ posted a seriously cryptic message to his Instagram story.
Cody Rhodes has had enough of people taking credit for the things he’s created.
This is the message he left on his Instagram story, leaving fans guessing as to what, exactly, the three-time AEW TNT Champion may be referring to. The news was posted on Wednesday, 5 October, so it doesn’t leave much off the table in terms of what ‘The American Nightmare’ means.

Many are already speculating that the story could be in retaliation to Cody Rhodes’ ex-AEW rival Chris Jericho, who had claimed that prior to the formation of All Elite Wrestling in 2019, no one knew who he and The Elite were on a national level. The ROH World Champion made the claims during an appearance on the AEW Unrestricted podcast:
âKeep in mind, no-one really knew Cody at that point. Heâd been gone for years; the last time weâd seen him, he was Stardust when he left [WWE.] And as much buzz as Kenny [Omega], and Matt and Nick Jackson had, they were still mostly just regional guys. They were worldwide stars, but when it comes to national TV in the States, they didnât have any experience with that.”
Cody Rhodes is currently absent from WWE programming after suffering a torn pectoral tendon. He was written off WWE programming in early June by Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins, who he defeated the previous night in a Hell in a Cell match while working through the gruelling injury.
