Cody Rhodes Comments On The Elite Re-Signing With AEW

The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes is happy to see The Elite’s decision to remain in All Elite Wrestling.

After months of speculation on whether Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page would stay on with AEW or join Cody in making the leap to WWE, it was announced that the four would still be the ‘E’ in AEW for “years to come.”

At the SummerSlam Service Experience, Rhodes was asked about the news that his former colleagues would be staying put. The American Nightmare said he “over the moon” that they did what they did, noting that the four are now making “NBA money.”

“I’m very happy when any wrestler or Superstar gets paid. I don’t want to sound carny or hacky but to know that your peers and people who take the bumps and go through all this and have that type of the physical struggle that comes with this gig, to know they’re getting paid is really exciting.

“I am over the moon that that group did what they did because, as Nick Jackson said, I believe they’ve made some NBA money off of it.”

Rhodes went on to say that, while he would have like to see them again, he understands their choice.

“I’m honestly just really happy for them. I am. I would have loved to have seen them again. But, you know, I’m very happy with the choices they made, and that schedule is a little different.

“This gig is, this particular gig at WWE, it’s a different type of personality that maybe fits me a little bit more. Yeah, but very happy for them.”

Why did Cody Rhodes leave AEW?

During a recent interview, Rhodes revealed that leaving AEW “was the easiest thing” he ever did. The star said it was due to a “personal issue” which there was just no getting around.

Despite this, he is still happy with his time in the company, saying that it was a “wonderful time.”

“No, it was the easiest thing I ever did. It’s because I had a personal issue that I wasn’t going through, over, or around. I was just going to steer clear of it. If anything, I wanted to look at what we had done at AEW and say, ‘Amazing, what a wonderful time, a beautiful memory, and very special in every way. Now it’s time to move on.’”
