Cody Rhodes hopes that a WWE Attitude Era star he is very familiar with eventually gets their recognition in the Hall of Fame.
Debuting back in 1988, Dustin Rhodes is one of the select few who has competed in WCW, WWE, TNA, ROH and AEW. While The Natural has portrayed multiple personas throughout his decorated career, many fans will know him best for his work as Goldust. The androgynous persona served as an inspiration to many for years to come and was a part of storylines in multiple eras.
While speaking with The Schmo, Cody recalled his early memories of Goldust and how Dustin did not want to be known as just a member of the Rhodes family. The Undisputed Champion also added that Goldust was an underrated performer in The Attitude Era and deserves to be acknowledged:
“I think I was 14 years old when Goldust was really hitting his stride on WWE television. And I can certainly say it was a unique thing to see my friends had a lot of feelings about what Goldust was doing.
“However, knowing how much he had subverted expectations, knowing how much he didn’t just want to be a Rhodes. He wanted to be his own thing and what he did in the lengths he went to to do it, I was very proud of Dustin throughout that whole run. Goldust is an underrated part of the Attitude Era, certainly somebody I think worthy of the Hall of Fame.”
At the end of 2023, The Undertaker shared the same opinion.
