Cody Rhodes Battled Illness Prior To Competing At Recent WWE Live Event

Cody Rhodes has admitted that he was not 100% heading into a match at a WWE house show.

As part of the series of Holiday Tour live events, the promotion hosted a show in Laval, Quebec on December 28th. In the penultimate match of the show, The American Nightmare defeated Damian Priest in a Last Man Standing match. A fan in attendance posted a still of the encounter, to which Rhodes offered a graphic update.

Quoting the image on social media, Rhodes admitted that he was violently ill shortly before the match, but thanked the Canadian fans for their support in helping him fight through the pain:

Fun fact/and an overshare – I vomited what felt like half my body weight 30 seconds before my music hit ha Thank you Montreal for lifting me up to be able to fight!

Will Cody Rhodes Finish The Story?

Rhodes has had a successful 2023, winning the Royal Rumble and going on to headline WrestleMania. However, the marquee match would not give The American Nightmare a fairytale ending as he came up short in his battle with Roman Reigns. Looking to fulfil his destiny in 2024, Rhodes has declared himself for the 2024 Royal Rumble and hopes to join the elite list who have won the iconic match in consecutive years.

Rhodes recently re-singed with the company following multiple top stars committing to new multi-year deals. Reports stated that Cody Rhodes committing to a new deal was a “major priority” according to internal sources.

Recognising his achievements in the past year, ESPN named Cody Rhodes as their Male Wrestler of the Year in their 2023 end-of-year awards.

At a house show in 2024, Cody Rhodes fulfilled a unique request from a WWE fan.
