WWE star Cody Rhodes

WWE star immediately apologized to Cody Rhodes over an unsafe bump.

At this year’s Royal Rumble, the feud between Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes was taken up a notch when they faced off in a Ladder match for the Undisputed Championship. At one moment during the clash, The Prizefighter was on the second rope and delivered a powerbomb to The American Nightmare through a ladder.

It looked like Cody Rhodes landed on his neck, which could’ve resulted in something ugly. Although they were heated rivals on-screen, the challenger was nothing but apologetic to his opponent. However, Rhodes was also incredibly assured that he was doing just fine.

Kevin Owens Was Apologetic After A Ladder Spot During His Match With Cody Rhodes

In an episode of Netflix’s WWE: Unreal, a series where the Stamford-based promotion gave a glimpse of what goes on behind the curtains, Rhodes and Owens met up after their brutal 2025 Royal Rumble match. While still bloodied and beaten, Kevin apologized to Cody once he spotted the latter walking in the hallway, expressing concern while explaining himself.

So sorry about the bomb. I wanted the ladder to be, so that you could go straight, because I can’t see where I put you. But you put it the other way, so I kind of had to walk with you. I didn’t want to put you too far, so then it looked like sh*t. And you ate it right on your neck. Are you okay?”

The American Nightmare replied that he was fine and didn’t land on his neck, but forward, so it missed his neck, and he was doing fine. Satisfied with the answer, the WWE stars parted ways. Owens also noted he was about to call his wife and the rest of his family.
