Cody Rhodes on NXT

Cody Rhodes had some big news for the WWE faithful.

On October 10th, the American Nightmare made a special appearance on NXT and he arrived with important news. The World Tag Team Champion announced the return of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and the men’s Breakout Tournament.

The Dusty Classic was founded in 2015 in honour of the late, great Dusty Rhodes and has been held every year except 2017.

Previous winners include Finn Balor & Samoa Joe, The Authors of Pain, Adam Cole & Kyle O’Reilly, Aleister Black & Ricochet, Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne, MSK, Dakota Kai & Raquel Rodriguez, The Creed Brothers, and Kay Lee Ray & Io Shirai.

There is no word on when the tournament will begin, but the winners will earn a shot at the NXT Tag Team Titles.

The men’s Breakout Tournament will start at the conclusion of the women’s tournament. The winner will also earn a shot at NXT gold.

Cody Rhodes has since revealed that he made one major decision before leaving NXT.

Why Was Cody Rhodes On NXT?

Cody Rhodes wasn’t the only main roster star to appear on the October 10th episode of NXT with LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, Asuka, and John Cena all involved. WWE stacked the show with the episode going head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

The show went off the air with an appearance from The Undertaker, who laid out Bron Breakker. The second-generation star had just been defeated by Carmelo Hayes in the main event with Sikoa, Cena, and Paul Heyman all involved.

After the match, Breakker attacked Hayes and claimed there was one badass in WWE, and that brought out The Deadman.

In recent news, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso will issue an open challenge on the upcoming WWE SmackDown.
