Cody Rhodes’ next WWE Championship match confirmed.

On the final SmackDown of 2024, during the December 27th episode, Nick Aldis called out Kevin Owens. When faced with the option to relinquish the Winged-Eagle Championship or face consequences, Owens decided to carve his path.

Denying to give the belt away, fans witnessed Rhodes return after his Saturday Night’s Main Event ambush. Confronting his former friend, Rhodes implied that all their friendship was lost, and they could never be like before.

The American Nightmare claimed that he does not wrestle for himself anymore but for his loved ones instead. However, as things turned hot, he laid out a challenge for Owens. Rhodes went out to challenge Owens to a ladder match, where the referee could not stop him from attacking Owens.

Soon after, Nick Aldis confirmed the ladder match for Royal Rumble on 1st February 2025. At the upcoming PLE in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, both the Winged Eagle belt and the Undisputed Championship will be held above the ring.

The segment concluded with Owens repeatedly targeting Rhodes’ neck with low kicks before slowly walking away.
