Cody Rhodes Reportedly Still Allowed To Appear On TBS

A new report has shed more light on Cody Rhodes’ deal with WWE and says that The American Nightmare could still appear on TBS – the home of AEW.

Rhodes was one of the driving forces behind the formation of AEW along with Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, and company president Tony Khan. The wrestling world’s jaw therefore collectively dropped in February 2022 when it was announced that Cody and his wife Brandi Rhodes were to leave the organisation.

Speculation began almost immediately that Cody Rhodes was set to make a shock return to WWE and that finally came to pass when he made his stunning re-debut for the company as Seth Rollins’ mystery opponent at WrestleMania 38.

Cody Rhodes has already discussed his deal with WWE, calling it “complex” and now Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio has divulged more details about the deal. According to Meltzer, WWE’s agreement with Rhodes allows him to do outside projects, and could even see him still appear on AEW’s home network, TBS:

“Once he decided to leave [AEW] it was an easy decision [to join WWE] if he got the deal that he wanted and he got the deal that he wanted. He got this complex deal that allows him to do outside things that a lot of people don’t have the ability to do.”

“So that was part of it, I don’t know all the things that he’s got but I know he’s got that. He can do the TV shows, he can do Go-Big Show if he wants to and if they want him, and there’s no guarantee they’ll still want him, they might. He can do whatever – not Rhodes To The Top because that’s actually an AEW show but Go-Big Show, it’s a Warner Media show but AEW has nothing to do with it.”

Cody Rhodes appeared on Raw for the first time in six years on Monday night and revealed he has his sights set on a prize his father Dusty Rhodes was never able to capture in his illustrious career.
