Cody Rhodes has looked back on a promo that he was not entirely proud of.
Ever since Rhodes made his return to the company in 2022, The American Nightmare has been portrayed as one of if not the top babyface on the entire roster. With strong crowd reactions, strong merch sales and appeal to a more family-friendly audience, Rhodes has been touted as the wrestler to take the John Cena role of being the hero to younger fans who will never give up and never turn.
While Rhodes’ promos have been for the most part adhering to PG guidelines, one segment in particular may have bent the rules when he stated on Raw that The Rock had LDS. Speaking with Chris Van Vliet about the promo and the backstage reaction, Rhodes admitted that while those behind the scenes loved it and it was a good segment it was also a stark contrast to the usual promos he cut:
“I feel maybe I crossed the line. I did a promo where I said he had LDS. Actually I feel like a lot of people liked the interview and got a nice round of applause when I came back through the curtain but it felt so off-brand for me because we have so many young kids.
I felt like this one guy is the guy that I’m gonna go to these lenghts for and maybe that’s what makes this all click, this genuine animosity and smile at each other but probably deeply dislike one another. If he’s the one who’s gonna bring it out to me. It’s probably good TV, but it did feel a little I guess icky in the moment.”
Cody Rhodes Makes Offer To The Rock
Despite overcoming all the odds at WrestleMania 40 to defeat Roman Reigns and become the new Undisputed Champion, The Rock has made it clear that there is unfinished business between them both. Speaking in the same interview, Cody Rhodes stated that his offer to The Rock still stands.
