Cody Rhodes Addresses His Wrestling Future

By James Holder. Published 2nd December 2021.

Cody Rhodes has moved to address his future, commenting that AEW would be a strange place without the “core members of the revolution.”

In November it was reported that AEW Executive Vice Presidents The Young Bucks had extended their contracts with the company. The former Tag Team Champions later appeared to confirm that they had committed to AEW until 2024.

This has led to speculation around the future’s of Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes. However, the American Nightmare has suggested that he won’t be leaving the company any time soon.

Speaking in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Cody Rhodes said that he sees his future with AEW, adding that all EVP’s maintain an admiration for each other. His comments come after it was noted that Rhodes was “on the outside looking in” and “didn’t have much of a relationship” with the other EVP’s earlier in the year.

“As of now, my future is with AEW,” Rhodes declared. “AEW would be very strange without the core members of the revolution. We (the EVP’s) all still talk. We all have this admiration for each other. I can’t see myself anywhere else, and I’m very optimistic about what the future holds.”

In recent weeks, Rhodes stopped using his Twitter account, later handing it over to AEW’s Community Outreach program. The former TNT Champion explained that it was the best use of his page, before praising Tony Khan and Ambassador Amanda Huber.

“This is the best use of my page,” Rhodes said. “I want to further develop the community outreach program, following in the footsteps of the legendary Sue Aitchison (of WWE). Whether the cameras are on or off, we need to hit the mark of making people’s lives better. Tony Khan has been so supportive, and we’re looking to make lives brighter and help. Community outreach ambassador Amanda Huber has been an absolute godsend to the department, and I can’t say enough about her contributions.”

On the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Cody Rhodes went to war with Andre El Idolo in an Atlanta Street Fight. The two men brawled throughout a chaotic main event, hitting each other with chairs, tables, and a special Cody Rhodes introduced golden shovel.

The bout came to a shockingly fiery conclusion when Brandi Rhodes ran into the ring and doused a table in lighter fluid before setting it alight. Rhodes then delivered a suplex to Andrade from the top rope to earn the win.
