Cody Rhodes returned to SmackDown this week after being away for a month. On the August 8 edition of SmackDown, Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul faced John Cena and Cody Rhodes in the main event. Things went out of control when The Maverick and Cena brawled their way out of the arena. Meanwhile, McIntyre brutally attacked the Undisputed WWE Champion, hitting him with a Claymore through the side of the announcer’s table.
In real life, Cody Rhodes and his wife, Brandi, had welcomed a baby girl. The champion was also cast in Street Fighter to portray Guile. He’s not the only WWE star to feature in the film. Roman Reigns is also set to play Akuma in the live-action film inspired by the iconic gaming franchise.
Drew McIntyre was keeping himself occupied by taunting and exploiting Randy Orton’s friendship with Rhodes. He left no opportunity to take shots at The Viper and provoke his inability to do what is required and win the WWE Championship.
Cody Rhodes Expresses Gratitude to Fans After SmackDown Went Off Air
This week on SmackDown, The Scottish Warrior and The Viper collided in a heavy-hitting main event. Drew McIntyre won the match with dodgy tactics. After the match, Cody Rhodes ran out, attacked the WWE star, and challenged him to a match at Wrestlepalooza.
After the show went off air, Cody Rhodes addressed the fans, thanking them for their support. He reflected on the exciting life events that transpired within the one month he was away from WWE.
“Thank you guys so much. There is more action tonight, but before that happens I just want to say it’s been a hell of a month for me. I got a new baby girl, Leilani. I got cast as Guile in Street Fighter, and tonight I got to come back home. Thank you guys very, very, very, very much.” (00:14 – 00:57)

Drew McIntyre did not respond to the challenge on SmackDown. Given his intent on becoming Undisputed WWE Champion again, he will not give up the opportunity to dismiss this potential career-altering move.
