Cody Rhodes Addresses Being Booed In AEW

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes has commented on his polarising reaction towards the end of his AEW run and says fan booing him was “the quirky thing to do.”

Before AEW even began, Cody Rhodes had become beloved by a huge section of the wrestling audience through his exploits with Bullet Club in New Japan Pro Wrestling as well as Ring Of Honor. Nowhere was this more evident when Rhodes and The Young Bucks put on the All In show in 2018 that saw Rhodes steal the show as he emotionally captured the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship – the same title that his father held three times.

Fast forward a few years and as AEW had grown and brought in major stars such as Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, and CM Punk, meaning that all of a sudden Cody Rhodes was no longer the beloved favourite of some of the AEW audience.

Rhodes’ reactions grew more negative week after week but The American Nightmare remained steadfast that he didn’t want to turn heel. Now, Cody Rhodes is a part of WWE once more, and his reactions are so far unanimously positive.

Rhodes responded to a fan on social media who pointed this out but Rhodes thinks it was simply a fad and says he appreciates getting a big reaction either way:

“I appreciate it fam But it’s all good – it was the quirky thing to do for a minute and as a wrestler you just want “loudest the longest” – I had some fun matches amidst that noise, wouldn’t change a thing It led us into this next chapter, truly a love story”

Cody Rhodes will hope to have the crowd on his side once again as he faces Seth Rollins at WrestleMania Backlash in a rematch from their bout at WrestleMania 38.
