Cody Rhodes is set for a date with a rising star at Payback.
After finally getting the better of Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam and battling with the Judgment Day on Raw, fans have been wondering what’s next for Cody Rhodes and they might get an answer at Payback.
On the August 25th episode of SmackDown, it was announced that the American Nightmare will be appearing on the Grayson Waller Effect.
Since moving to the main roster, Waller has already hosted the likes of AJ Styles and Edge, while also tangling on the microphone with John Cena.
It’s also been confirmed that Austin Theory will look to regain the United States Championship when he takes on Rey Mysterio. Theory lost the title to the Lucha legend on August 11th.
Cody Rhodes Pays Tribute To Terry Funk On SmackDown
The August 25th edition of SmackDown was an emotionally charged affair with WWE paying tribute to Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt who both passed away in recent days.
The show opened with the entire WWE roster and Erick Rowan gathered at the top of the ramp as Michael Cole announced a ten-bell salute. This was followed by the airing of a video package paying tribute to Wyatt — real name Windham Rotunda — who was just 36 years old when he sadly passed away on August 24th. The segment ended with Wyatt’s famous rocking chair alone in the spotlight.
Later on, Cody Rhodes led the tributes to Terry Funk reflecting on the legend’s numerous battles with his own famous father.
