CM Punk “Wants To Come Back” To AEW

CM Punk

Although he remains absent from AEW at least for the moment, CM Punk wants to come back to work.

Punk hasn’t featured for AEW since launching into a tirade aimed at a number of key figures within the company at the post-All Out media scrum. Once backstage, Punk and Ace Steel then got into a fight with The Elite.

While there has been little direct comment from Punk or AEW boss Tony Khan about the situation, it was reported in March that the star was looking to return. However, this was thrown up the air, when seemingly in response to a comment from Dave Meltzer, Punk lashed out on social media. Punk took aim at the company, Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, and Meltzer himself.

In the days after the post was published and then removed, it was revealed that Punk had all but agreed to return to AEW before tempers flared once more.

Speaking on the most recent episode of his podcast, FTR, Dax Harwood revealed that Punk wants to come back. He added that Punk misses wrestling, noting that he speaks to him almost every day.

“I will say this the reason I’m fantasy booking that [CM Punk and FTR vs. The Elite] is because outside of Roman Reigns and you please correct me if I’m wrong, outside of Roman Reigns and maybe, this is not including like Brock Lesnar, or Logan Paul or whatever. But outside of Roman Reigns and maybe Cody Rhodes, the biggest name in professional wrestling right now is CM Punk. Right? Definitely the biggest name in AEW.

So if we want, if we want to take AEW to the next level, if we’re here to work for AEW, if we’re here to make professional wrestling better because of AEW, the way you do that is you take the biggest star that you have, and one of the biggest stars in the world, and you put them on the card, and you make money with them. Also, on top of saying that, I talk to Punk almost every day, and Punk misses wrestling, that’s your headline, Punk misses wrestling, and Punk wants to come back. And he wants to give back to the fans, he wants to get back to wrestling. So I’ll leave it at that.”

CM Punk To Return At AEW All In?

On April 5th AEW announced its first-ever show in the United Kingdom. The huge show titled All In will take place on Sunday, August 27th at Wembley Stadium. It will be the first professional wrestling event to take place at the famous venue since WWE SummerSlam in 1992.

This led to speculation that CM Punk could return in time for the event. Speaking elsewhere, Harwood reiterated his desire to team with the star on the show.
