CM Punk has officially begun his road to recovery.
On January 27th, Punk competed in the Men’s Royal Rumble, which was also the former World Champion’s first televised WWE match in 10 years. Making it to the final 2, Punk would fall short as he was the last one to be eliminated by Cody Rhodes. Despite the defeat, many still assumed that Punk would still be a major part of WrestleMania 40, most likely in a match against World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins in the main event of night one. Unfortunately, plans were forcibly changed.
On January 29th, CM Punk confirmed that he suffered a torn tricep at the Royal Rumble, meaning that he would not be a part of WrestleMania as he required surgery. One week later on Raw, an update was provided.
A segment aired on the February 5th broadcast which saw Punk filmed before and after the procedure. After the operation, Punk was seen struggling with his backpack and noted that these kinds of tasks are the most frustrating:
“This is the most frustrating thing, little simple tasks like this.”
Punk continued, noting that the emotional pain is much worse than the physical pain but he would return and it will be one of the greatest returns that fans have ever seen:
“I am in a lot of pain. It’s mental more than anything. I can handle pain, I can power through hard PT [physical therapy]. The mental aspect of it I think is a lot harder than the physical. [This is] Day 1. My comeback will be the greatest of all time.
In a new update, there may be a CM Punk appearance much earlier than expected.
CM Punk Sends A Message To Cody Rhodes
A separate video would give an exclusive insight into Punk’s road to announcing to the world that he is injured and what happens next. Reuniting with Cody Rhodes backstage at WWE Raw, CM Punk issued a 4-word plea to The American Nightmare.

Inside The Ropes would like to wish CM Punk a full and speedy recovery.
