CM Punk is getting closer to his goal.
Since Punk’s return at the 2023 Survivor Series, he has been involved in a heated rivalry with Seth Rollins. However, their feud took a new turn when Roman Reigns got involved in it at the 2025 Royal Rumble.
A few weeks ago, Reigns returned at Raw and interfered in the steel cage match between Punk and Rollins, which ignited a new rivalry. Soon enough, WWE announced a triple-threat match among all three involved stars at WrestleMania 41.
Tonight, during the 28th March episode of SmackDown, an official contract signing took place between the three. While Reigns entered first, he was soon followed by Seth Rollins and CM Punk. While the two former Shield members put pen to paper on the contract swiftly, the Second City Saint took his sweet time going through the clauses.
However, as Punk carefully read through it, ‘Wiseman’ Paul Heyman interfered and announced the upcoming triple threat to be a WrestleMania 41 main event,
“I know what you’re looking for, and it’s in there. You’re closing the show at WrestleMania.”
Main-eventing a WrestleMania has been one of Punk’s lifelong dreams, and it was one of the reasons behind his walkout almost a decade ago. A part of WWE since 2005, CM Punk is finally set to main-event a WrestleMania. Punk’s 2005 start date, notwithstanding his departure in 2014 and subsequent return in 2023, signifies a possible twenty-year dream, or even a lifelong goal.
As Paul Heyman shared the announcement, the former champion broke down in tears, visibly upsetting Rollins. Following this, Punk offered his thanks to the fans and his supporters, including a sarcastic display of gratitude towards Roman Reigns.
However, it is still unclear if Punk will headline Night 1 or Night 2 of the show. One of the other main events is highly speculated to be John Cena versus Cody Rhodes. Unfortunately for the fans, it leaves out the chances of witnessing a women’s main event match.
CM Punk’s WrestleMania 41 main event will be a full-circle moment, with the star having been the man to bring Rollins and Reigns up to the main roster over a decade ago.
Drew McIntyre Makes Fun Of CM Punk’s UFC Career
A few years ago, in 2016 and 2018, Punk entered the world of MMA and UFC. Despite high hopes from the fans, Punk failed to create a mark inside the octagon. His disappointing UFC career has become a talking point amongst his rivals, including a recent jab by Drew McIntyre.
During a visit to London for UFC Fight Night, Drew McIntyre shared the following statement:
“I can confidently say, if I got in the Octagon right now with zero training whatsoever, I would do 1,000 times better than CM Punk. I mean that. 1,000 times better,”
