CM Punk & The Elite Removed From AEW Dynamite Intro

By James Holder. Published 8th September 2022.
CM Punk

CM Punk, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks have all been removed from the AEW Dynamite opening package.

The September 7th edition of AEW Dynamite featured a brand new open that didn’t feature the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega or CM Punk.

The move comes after the Bucks and Omega were reportedly suspended for their role in a backstage brawl following the post-All Out media scrum on September 4th. The brawl was sparked by CM Punk who had launched a tirade against the trio and Hangman Adam Page during the scrum itself.

Dynamite also saw MJF address fans for the first time since returning to the company at All Out. However, the video shown featuring his return didn’t show CM Punk, despite the fact that the ‘Salt of the Earth’ confronted him at All Out.

There were no references made to Punk at all, who had won the AEW World Championship for a second time just days earlier.

In the early stages of Dynamite, Tony Khan appeared on the big screen to a chorus of boos before announced that both the World Championship and the World Trios Championships were vacant. Khan revealed that a ‘Champions Tournament’ will now be held before a new World Champion is crowned at Grand Slam.

Meanwhile on Dynamite, Death Triangle defeated Best Friends and Orange Cassidy to become the new Trios Champions.
