CM Punk Suggests Wrestling Will Be Dead In 20 Years

Former WWE Champion, CM Punk, has suggested that professional wrestling will no longer be a thing in twenty years time.

Following the announcement that Cody Rhodes and Brandi Rhodes were expecting their first child on the December 16 AEW Dynamite, the wrestling world broke out in a chorus of congratulations for the couple on social media.

One of those people was expectant mother and host of the Oral Sessions Podcast, Renee Paquette who tweeted:

“All I’m saying is in 20 years, the wrestling talent pool gonna be looking good!!”

Her tweet was a direct response not only to the announcement of the Rhodes family, but also to the fact that Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins have welcomed their first child into the world also.

However, in a cheeky response to his friend’s words, CM Punk responded with a laughable GIF of the actor, Jake Gyllenhaal, and some words which turned out to be somewhat controversial:

“There’s gonna be wrestling in 20 years?”

The retort gained an amusing response from Paquette who jokingly accused Punk of being a troll. However, the words of the straight edged star put the cat among the pigeons, causing wrestlers and fans to weigh in with their own particular opinion.

CM Punk recently appeared on Paquette’s Oral Sessions Podcast to discuss many a facet of professional wrestling, including his thoughts on Vince McMahon and Dana White, the time he shut down Vince McMahon’s audio on air and what it would take to lure him back into the ring.
