After ten months away from the ring, CM Punk made his long-anticipated return at AEW Collision last night.

In the show’s main event, CM Punk teamed with FTR’s Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler to take on Samoa Joe and Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White and Juice Robinson.

CM Punk would be declared victorious in front of his hometown crowd of Chicago, Illinois, after delivering his patented Go To Sleep finish to Juice Robinson. The three-count followed shortly afterwards.

After the conclusion of AEW Collision, Punk addressed the audience to express his strong support for LGBT rights.

CM Punk’s passionate speech started when he spotted a fan in the Chicago crowd with a sign which read “Support LGBTQ+ Kids.” After seeing the sign, Punk and FTR escorted the fan into the ring. Punk then addressed the audience with the following;

“The reason I support trans kids, trans-grown-ups, gays, and lesbians is because I know when I was growing up, I didn’t fit in anywhere. That it was because of the clothes I wore, what my hair looked like, and the music I listened to. Those are all things I can rectify. I can comb my hair, I can listen to jazz, I don’t know what. But to be somebody who’s gay, lesbian, and especially trans, I don’t know what it feels like to be trapped in a body that I don’t feel I belong in. That is why I support that.”

“Support Trans kids, support gay and lesbian rights. I want everyone to be themselves.”

It looks like CM Punk’s comeback to AEW has been a triumph, as his return match received an excellent rating of 7.91/10 on Cagematch.net at the time of writing. Given that Punk is being promoted as Collision’s main attraction, the future looks promising for All Elite Wrestling.
