CM Punk: “Seth Rollins Wouldn’t Have Gotten The Opportunities In WWE If It Wasn’t For Me”

CM Punk:

CM Punk has shared his thoughts on his rival, Seth Rollins.

The confrontation between the two took place on the December 11th episode of WWE Raw when CM Punk announced his signing with Raw. Rollins wasted no time in challenging Punk, claiming that WWE was not his home and accusing him of trying to tear down the company over the past decade. Rollins confidently stated his intention to outshine Punk in the wrestling ring and prove himself as the best in the world.

During an appearance on the WWE Preview Special, Punk was asked to compare Seth Rollins from ten years ago to the present day, recalling their encounter at the Royal Rumble in 2014. Punk expressed his view of Rollins as someone who followed in his footsteps.

I viewed Seth as somebody who was following my footsteps. I think there are a lot of people who are in WWE now who, for better or for worse, looked up to a guy like me.

He acknowledged that many current WWE stars, for better or worse, looked up to him. Punk humbly recognised the legends who paved the way for his own success, mentioning names like Terry Funk, Eddie Guerrero, Bret Hart, Tracy Smothers, and Chris Candido. Punk then candidly stated that he believed Rollins wouldn’t have had the same opportunities without him, acknowledging the potential impact of his own influence.

He’s a dude that I don’t think would have gotten the opportunities that he’s gotten if it wasn’t for me.

When questioned about Rollins’ feelings towards him, Punk took a diplomatic stance, asserting that he had no interest in what Rollins thought of him. He suggested that Rollins may feel jealous or envious, but it was not his place to decide or dwell on those emotions.

Punk emphasised the importance of settling differences in the wrestling ring, hinting at a potential confrontation between the two. With the Royal Rumble on the horizon, Punk expressed his willingness to challenge Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship if he emerged victorious in the rumble.

If Seth is still the champion when the dust clears, maybe we can talk about it then and settle it in the ring.
