CM Punk capped off a night to remember for WWE NXT fans.
A major part of the debut episode on the CW Network, which aired live from Chicago, Punk served as the special guest referee in the main event of the show as Ethan Page put the NXT Championship on the line against Trick Williams. Despite the fact that Page continued to argue with the referee and even hit a GTS onto Williams in front of Punk, it was not Page’s night as Williams hit the Trick Shot onto Page to become a 2-time NXT Champion.
As Page continued to protest the result, he was hit with a GTS from Punk after the bell as Williams continued the celebrations. After the show went off the air, Punk had one more announcement to cap off a newsworthy night. Grabbing the microphone, Punk told the fans to grab some free pizza on the way out.
Pizza for everybody! 🍕@CMPunk just sent the Chicago crowd home with a late-night treat! 🙌#WWENXTpic.twitter.com/xcUArytyvj

Fans also shared photos and videos of the free pizza on social media.
While Punk was in good spirits on NXT, the same can not be said for his next match at Bad Blood, which will see the former World Champion step inside Hell in a Cell against Drew McIntyre.
Could CM Punk Run NXT One Day?
With multiple appearances on the developmental brand and also giving guidance to the stars of the future, it has been previously reported that Punk could be setting himself up as Shawn Michaels’s successor to one day run NXT. Speaking in an interview ahead of the CW premiere, Shawn Michaels commented on CM Punk possibly being his successor.
Looking back on his return, CM Punk admitted it was anything but straightforward.
