AEW World Champion CM Punk has provided an update on his injury status, saying his foot was “shattered” and he is “re-learning to walk”.
On the June 3rd episode of Rampage, CM Punk came to the ring and gave an emotional address. The AEW World Champion said that every bone in his body had told him to go home. With that said, he went on to announce that he would be taking time off to undergo surgery.
The star added that he will be back, bigger, faster and stronger than ever before, promising to prove why he is the best in the world.
It was later reported that the injury in question was related to Punk’s foot. Recently, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer speculated that the star could return in time for All Out in September.
However, the CM Punk himself has put that possibility in doubt with his latest update.
During an appearance on the AEW panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Punk revealed that he has no timeline for his return. The ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ admitted he shattered his foot and, while it is healing, he is currently “re-learning to walk”.

At the media scrum following ROH Death Before Dishonor, AEW President Tony Khan was also cautious when giving an update on CM Punk. Khan said that, while he couldn’t rule out Punk returning for All Out, he also didn’t want to promise anything as it was a serious injury.

Meanwhile, in more positive news from the same Comic-Con panel, Bryan Danielson announced that, after two months out of action, he would be returning to the ring on the July 27th Fight For The Fallen edition of Dynamite where he will take on Daniel Garcia.
