CM Punk’s favor can change the future landscape of WWE.

Earlier tonight, CM Punk opened the April 4th episode of SmackDown in his hometown of Chicago. While Punk discussed his upcoming Mania main-event match, his former manager, Paul Heyman, would interrupt him. However, while he asked Punk to reveal his favor, The Second City Saint delayed it till the main-event segment of the show.

A few minutes before the show closed, fans witnessed the gathering of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Punk inside the ring. While the two former Shield brothers went back and forth, the former champion walked out and revealed his favor.

Walking out to the ring, Punk revealed that the favor was about loyalty and keeping promises, while taking a subtle dig at Rollins’ history. Asking The Wiseman to be in his corner at Mania 41, Punk laid out his favor.

Reflecting on Heyman’s infamous 2006 exit from the company, Punk recollected how Heyman, Big Show, RVD, and he shared a conversation. Following Heyman’s exit from the company, Punk sought advice from him, leading The Wiseman to recommend being in his corner whenever he main-evented WrestleMania. Revealing the conversation, Punk shared Heyman’s words:

“When you main event WrestleMania, force them to deal with us.”

To which he turned to Reigns and asked Heyman to be in his corner at WrestleMania 41. CM Punk and Paul Heyman share a deep history, and it will come full circle in a few weeks’ time in Las Vegas.

However, as Reigns asked Heyman to reject the offer, The Wiseman instead accepted Punk’s proposal. As Reigns grabbed Heyman and dragged him to the corner, Punk swooped in and saved the day. Dropping the Tribal Chief with the GTS, Punk closed the show in his hometown.

CM Punk Explains Why WWE WrestleMania 41 Will Be A Full Circle Moment

Recently, during an interview on the Rich Eisen show, CM Punk explained why his upcoming triple-threat match at WrestleMania 41 will be a full-circle moment.

“I’ll give a bit of an uncharacteristic answer. I think everybody’s always trying to navigate, like, ‘How do you deal with media different from what we present on our television show?’ In 2012, I was the WWE Champion. I was on this what, at the time, was a historic run with the belt. Four hundred thirty-four days, obviously shattered by Roman Reigns since I’ve been gone, and what I needed was guys to work with.”

“I was always looking towards the future. Yeah, there’s the now, there’s me, and there’s Cena. But outside of that, I would look at the landscape and be like, ‘What do we need to do to get money-talent in the position that I’m in now? How do I bring guys up? How do we elevate Superstars?’

“So the idea with The Shield was that simple. I need guys to work with, for good or for bad, whether I like them, whether I hate them, whether I’m going to wind up having personal problems with them. I need talented individuals to work with, or I have nobody to work with in the future.”

In other news: Charlotte Flair and Tiffany Stratton reportedly went off-script during SmackDown.
