CM Punk has fired back at Kazuchika Okada after the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion said that he would like to face the AEW star.
Ahead of defeating ‘The Dragon’ Shingo Takagi on night one of Wrestle Kingdom 16, The Rainmaker sat down with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. In the conversation Okada said that he would like to face both Bryan Danielson and CM Punk before they retire. The New Japan star adding that any potential matches would be “incredible.”
“Danielson and Punk would make for some incredible matches,” Okada says. “A lot of those dream match scenarios are about getting excited for the possibilities, and once the match is done, it’s done. So it is important to keep that excitement and anticipation, I think. Still, if we wait too long, they’ll both retire eventually, so I want to face them both while they’re still active.”
Unsurprisingly, news of Okada’s comments has travelled fast with CM Punk responding to the challenge. Posting on Twitter, Punk shared the address for the United Center in Chicago, simply writing “here’s my address, come see me.”

While NWA EmPowerrrr featured women from numerous promotions and NWA’s women occasionally wrestled in AEW.
