CM Punk was All Elite Wrestling’s top merch seller one year ago.
In a tweet by Pro Wrestling Tees last year, they confirmed that the top merchandise-selling wrestlers for 2021 were CM Punk, Kenny Omega and Orange Cassidy. This massive merchandise shift likely stemmed from CM Punk’s sensational return to wrestling earlier that year.
However, one year later, CM Punk has been replaced by a rather unexpected wrestler as AEW’s top merch seller.
Surprising Name Out Performs CM Punk As Top Merch Seller Of 2022
Once a year, Pro Wrestling Tees tweet out their top merchandise sellers. This year, a surprising name toppled CM Punk from the top spot.
The top merch seller for 2022 was Danhausen. CM Punk followed him in second place, and AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman in third place.
Danhausen signed for All Elite Wrestling on January 26th, 2022. He appeared during a “Lights Out” match between Orange Cassidy and Adam Cole, “cursing” Adam Cole after being dragged out from under the ring.
Since then, he has been aligned with the Best Friends, appearing in matches and segments with the faction. He has only competed in a handful of matches for the promotion due to injury, but it could be assumed that he will feature much more on Dynamite and Rampage with the reveal of this news.
His best-selling item on PWTees was his “Very Elite, Very Evil” t-shirt, which is selling for $29.99.
CM Punk’s drop from the top spot is shocking, but it may be caused by his absence from television for much of 2022. Punk did not appear on Dynamite for two months after a severe foot injury in June. Upon his return, he seemed to be back to 100%. However, he was soon suspended by AEW after an altercation with the Young Bucks following All Out 2022 in September. He has not been seen on AEW television since.
Filling out the rest of the “top ten” merch-sellers were The Acclaimed, Jon Moxley, Malakai Black, The Young Bucks, FTR, Sting and Kenny Omega.
