CM Punk Opens WWE WrestleMania 40 Press Conference: “Let’s P*** Some People Off”

CM Punk Injured At WWE Royal Rumble; WrestleMania Status Addressed On Raw

CM Punk is willing to make waves in WWE despite his current injury.

At Survivor Series on November 25th, CM Punk made a shocking return to WWE for the first time since his acrimonious 2014 exit. Despite reports that Punk’s WWE comeback left numerous talent upset, the star’s demeanor at Monday Night Raw on November 27th was reportedly pleasant and he left a good impression on people backstage.

The Royal Rumble on January 27th saw CM Punk return to a WWE ring for the first time in over a decade. Entering at number 27, the star found himself face to face with Cody Rhodes as the final two participants in the bout.

In the end, Cody Rhodes was victorious, leaving a devastated Punk without the guarantee of the WrestleMania main event he so badly wanted. However, that was not the worst of the star’s luck coming out of the Rumble as Punk was injured while taking a Future Shock DDT from Drew McIntyre.

A heartbroken CM Punk confirmed on Monday Night Raw that he’d torn his triceps and that WrestleMania was not in the cards for him this year. Prior to his injury, it was reported that plans were in place for Punk to face Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Title on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

Big E Took Good-Natured Jab At CM Punk During WrestleMania 40 Press Conference

Prior to the heavily-anticipated WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Press Conference in Las Vegas, WWE announced that Big E and CM Punk would be joining Michael Cole and Pat McAfee in hosting the big event.

Opening the panel discussion, Big E joked that he was “just here so Punk doesn’t get fined” before attention turned to CM Punk, who Cole said was “most importantly, the husband of AJ Lee.” Punk began by taking a jab right back at Cole, referencing his time in the Cole Mine.

“Oh, it is good to be here in Las Vegas. It helps my heart. I’m injured, but I’m still in the mix, getting to be here with Michael Cole and all the Cole Miners, wow!”

Cole later asked Punk how his torn triceps is progressing, and Punk said that while he’s upset, he can still make waves because his mouth still works.

“Well, it sucks. I’m one week from surgery today and it’s still not 100%, so I’m a little upset about it. I am heartbroken I cannot comepete at WrestleMania, but like, I said… [crowd boos] Oh, don’t worry, I’m still in the mix, I’m still gonna p*** a lot of people off. My mouth still works!”

When Cole joked that he indeed was likely to tick people off, Punk said:

“Yeah, I’m looking forward to it. Let’s p*** some people off.”
