With another day comes further speculation on the status of CM Punk within All Elite Wrestling. The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer and Wrestling Inc.’s Nick Hausman had mentioned just yesterday (Tuesday, November 1) that they didn’t believe Punk would be back in AEW, though there is no current litigation being taken against him.
A new report has now come by way of Fightful Select. They confirmed the prior reports mentioned by Meltzer and Hausman, adding that there are no current plans to work CM Punk back into programming. As for The Elite, the wheels are already rolling with bringing them back to AEW, beginning with a teaser video on the October 26 AEW Dynamite.
Where Will CM Punk Go Next?
The report added that should CM Punk maintain an interest in wrestling if he is to leave AEW, it’s expected he would have offers from multiple organisations, though it’s unknown how far these talks would go given Punk’s high asking price. A WWE source indicated that the sports entertainment giant would certainly be keen to acquire Punk’s services.
Meanwhile, a source who is said to be close to the two-time AEW World Champion believes he may “caught the wrestling bug again” through his brief AEW run. Although he’s a while away from lacing up his boots again due to the arm injury he receives at All Out, his options are reportedly going to be vast when he’s given the all-clear to wrestle again.
Should CM Punk return to WWE, who are allegedly open to the idea under the new regime, it would mark his first time in the company since the 2014 Royal Rumble. He technically returned several years later as part of WWE Backstage, though this was through FOX, rather than WWE themselves.
He hasn’t wrestled since All Out, lifting his second AEW World Championship by besting Jon Moxley.
