Following his AEW return CM Punk has been met with both extremes of the reaction scale, in his hometown of Chicago, Punk was met with a heroes welcome, however, when AEW brought Forbidden Door to Toronto the reaction was less than savoury.
The 2023 Owen Hart Tournament would kick off at Forbidden Door when CM Punk took on NJPW legend and bread enthusiast Satoshi Kojima.
CM Punk Mocks Hulk Hogan Comparisons
As ‘The Second City Saint’ made his way to the ring he was met by a rupture of boos from the passionate Toronto crowd, a reaction that he also experienced during Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision.
Never one to shy away from controversy, Punk would play up to the boos, calling for the crowd to boo him louder and seemingly hitting back at comparisons to Hulk Hogan from Eric Bischoff in the process.
Bischoff While discussing the latest developments in the Punk and AEW saga on his Strictly Business podcast, Bischoff said that while Punk and others like to say Hogan is selfish, the former AEW Champion himself is ‘even worse.’
“All these hardcore wrestling fans and Punk himself is so anti-Hogan because [they think] he’s selfish and whatnot. Punk’s worse!”
During the match against Kojima, Punk would hit Hogan’s iconic big boot and leg drop combo, whilst signalling to the crowd to listen up as the boos continued to erupt around the Scotiabank Arena.
The Hogan leg drop was absolutely fantastic.

Following the leg drop, Punk would look at the crowd seemingly asking ‘what did I do’ in response to Bischoff’s comments and the crowds reaction.
Punk would also mock the comparisons during the main event of Saturday night’s AEW Collision show, once again hitting Hogan’s legendary boot and leg drop combo before giving a cheeky look straight down the hard cam.
Punk would eventually put Kojima away with the GTS, advancing to the next round of the Owen Hart Cup where he will take on either Samoa Joe or Roderick Strong.
