Jack Perry was apparently “throwing a temper tantrum” over a recent disagreement with CM Punk.
As first reported by Fightful Select, an intense backstage altercation has unfolded at an AEW Collision event involving CM Punk and Jack Perry.
The disagreement was allegedly over Jack Perry’s willingness to use real glass in a segment he was filming on the show. CM Punk, with an eye on safety, strongly cautioned Perry against this risky choice, which ignited a clash of opinions.
CM Punk’s camp claim that Punk wasn’t the only person to advise against the risky use of glass. It has been said that the AEW production team, doctors and even Tony Schiavone advised Jack Perry to refrain from using real glass due to concerns for his safety.
Punk has mentioned that Jack Perry was “throwing a temper tantrum over the spot not being cleared,” but no word has come from Perry’s side regarding the situation.
Interestingly, AEW officially banned several moves and items/objects previously used as weapons last month.
Though glass is not explicitly mentioned in the released list, it is worth noting that “thumbtacks, skewers, barbed wire, and other sharp/puncturing objects” make an appearance.
It is unclear whether this incident, which occurred during AEW’s run of shows in Canada last month, influenced this list.
As has been proven several times in wrestling, from numerous deathmatch instances to Goldberg slicing an artery by elbowing through a limousine window in WCW, glass is exceptionally unsafe and can easily cause serious injury.
The best result from this skirmish is that nobody got hurt.
Have CM Punk and Jack Perry Wrestled?
At the time of writing, CM Punk and Jack Perry have not met inside the squared circle. However, in a recent interview with For The Love Of Wrestling, Jack Perry hesitated for a long time before commenting on the possibility of working a match with Punk.
