The night did not end well for CM Punk.
Following a high-paced SummerSlam 2025 Night one match card, the promotion closed the show with a main-event World title bout between Punk and Gunther. In an extremely closely contested fight, both men took each other to their limits.
However, throughout the match, The Ring General constantly maintained the upper hand over Punk. Completely blasting Punk’s chest with constant chops, one moment in the match saw Gunther throw Punk into the ring ropes before landing a hard chop on CM Punk’s throat and almost beheading him.

Chops are arguably one of the most painful moves in pro-wrestling, and the results were soon evident. As the match progressed, Punk’s chest turned red with the welts, and soon started oozing blood.
Later in the contest, Gunther seemingly incurred a broken nose, which regrettably resulted in his loss, as Punk delivered two successive GTS to win the match.

However, as soon as Punk won his first World title since his 2023 return, his arch-nemesis Seth Rollins’ music hit. Taking the crowd and Punk by shock, the seemingly injured Visionary made his way to the ring and ambushed Punk with his ‘Money in the Bank’ briefcase.
Successfully executing the ‘Heist of the Century 2’, Seth Rollins then effectively cashed in his ‘MITB’ briefcase to dethrone Punk, just minutes after his title win.
