CM Punk In Talks With WWE Over Stunning Return

CM Punk

CM Punk could be heading back to WWE.

In a move that was almost unthinkable when he left the company, CM Punk could soon be back in a WWE ring. The star hasn’t wrestled for the sports entertainment giant since leaving in incredibly acrimonious circumstances in 2014.

What followed was a series of lawsuits, podcast appearances, and all-out chaos, while Punk was so burned out that he considered his wrestling career to be over.

However, that changed with the birth of AEW and he began a controversy-hit run with the promotion in August 2021. While the star reached some incredible highs during this period, his AEW career was marred by backstage fights and disagreements, with Punk eventually being fired after an incident involving Jack Perry and Tony Khan.

With Punk now a free agent, it’s been rumoured he could be heading to WWE. After all, Survivor Series is scheduled to take place in Chicago — or at least Rosemont.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer suggests there’s more than a little truth to the speculation, reporting that Punk and WWE are in talks over a deal.

“Regarding C.M. Punk, there is obviously tons of talk regarding him returning. There have been rumors that it’s happening, but those in WWE have only said that no deal is completed and those close to Punk have told us that it is his intention to return and the two sides are in talks. One would expect if such a deal is made that Survivor Series weekend in Chicago would be the time to do the surprise return.”

Interestingly, fans believe that WWE has referenced CM Punk multiple times during recent episodes of Raw.

Seth Rollins Warned CM Punk To Stay Away From WWE

While CM Punk might be heading back to WWE, Seth Rollins has very little love for the star. When asked about Punk in the lead-up to the 2023 Royal Rumble, Rollins referred to him as a “cancer” and a “jerk” while warning him to stay away.

In a follow-up report, it’s been claimed that CM Punk is a “safe bet” to appear at Survivor Series.
