In the days after All Out in September 2022, it seemed impossible that CM Punk would ever wrestle in AEW again.
He’d already become involved in some backstage conflict, but that hit another level as Punk verbally skewered The Elite, Adam Page, and Colt Cabana in the post-show press conference before brawling with Omega and the Young Bucks backstage.
However after months of speculation, Punk will indeed be back in an AEW ring on June 17th when he teams with FTR to take on Jay White, Juice Robinson, and Samoa Joe on the debut episode of Collision live from the United Center in Chicago.
Ahead of the match Punk featured in a short promo package on Dynamite which showed him working out and explaining that his goals in AEW remain the same. He added that he’s ready to settle some old scores and won’t know what he’s going to say until there’s a microphone in his hand, only promising that he’s got a lot to get off his chest.
CM Punk To Feud With Jay White?
In recent weeks it has been reported that CM Punk has “taken a liking” to the work of Jay White, sparking speculation that a feud between the pair could be on the way. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Nick Hausman for Inside The Ropes, veteran referee Jimmy Korderas spoke in favour of the program. The former WWE referee said it would be the perfect opportunity for AEW to really tap into White and make the most of his ability.
