CM Punk has spoken candidly about his love for WWE Hall Of Famer Bret Hart and says he’d give up his second chance in wrestling to give it to The Hitman.
CM Punk competed in a brutal Dog Collar Match at AEW Revolution as The Best In The World looked to shut up MJF for good. In a bloody battle, Punk emerged victorious as Wardlow seemingly turned his back on his employer and left the Dynamite Diamond ring on the canvas for Punk to use.
Speaking at a post-Revolution media scrum, CM Punk spoke about his love and admiration for Bret Hart and says The Hitman is always right:
“I love Bret Hart and Bret Hart’s career was cut short and it’s a Goddamn tragedy because there’s people that go over to Saudi Arabia and get paid millions of dollars and that should have been Bret.”
“I just feel super fortunate, grateful, and appreciative that I got a second chance. I’d give it up in a heartbeat to give it to Bret but I’m gonna enjoy it and I just love that motherf*cker so much you know. He’s the greatest and he was right. Bret Hart is always right.”
Bret Hart built his career in the then-World Wrestling Federation where he captured the WWF Championship 5 times in 5 years. His time in the company came to a shocking end following the Montreal Screwjob but The Hitman continued his wrestling career in WCW.
During a match in December 1999 against Goldberg, Hart was on the receiving end of a thrust kick which left Hart with a severe concussion. That injury ultimately led to the end of Hart’s in-ring career at the age of 42.
Bret Hart did make a return to WWE in 2010 facing off with Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 26 and even going on to defeat The Miz to become United States Champion.
