CM Punk is back in the news after Mark Henry claimed that if he was in charge of AEW he would bring the star back into the fold.
The two-AEW World Champion has been absent since September, partially due to triceps surgery, as well as the fallout from the backstage brawl that followed All Out. While Punk remains popular with some, he is reportedly still public enemy number one with others.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Henry who also works for AEW, came to the defence of Punk and advocated for him to be brought back. As has become the norm, these comments divided fans on social media. In response to one article a fan wrote “keep CM Punk retired.”
Never one to stay quiet for too long, Punk hit back with a reply of his own saying that he would wrestle again just to upset the fan in question.
During the conversation about CM Punk and The Elite, Henry also revealed that everyone who has already returned to AEW apologised to the locker room. He added that Punk, much like himself, was and is an outsider in AEW due to not being with the promotion since its launch back in 2019.

CM Punk Continues Fiesty Social Media Presence
CM Punk’s comments come just days after he decided to have some fun with suggestions that he is a “cancerous” presence in the AEW locker room. On his Instagram Stories, Punk shared a comic of Danhausen stealing some lemonade with the caption “@danhausenad is cancerous to america and really didn’t pay for lemonade, he is blackballed – WON”
“WON” being a reference to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
